The Lower Brule Sioux Tribe
Cultural Resources and
Public Information Office
The Lower Brule Sioux Tribe established the Public Information and Cultural Resources Office in 1990 to assist the Tribal Council in the protection, preservation, and nurturing of the Lakota Culture.
We work on and off the reservation, supporting and conducting projects related to cultural resource protection and preservation, land use management, public information, education, traditional culture, tribal history, and tourism. We assist in a variety of community activities, including the annual Lower Brule Wacipi and Fair.
We maintain the official Tribal Website, and an electronic archive of Tribal Council proceedings, as well as documents related to Lower Brule history and cultural relations outside the reservation. When requested by Tribal Council, we represent Tribal interests in consultations with federal and state agencies, and work with other Tribal governments on issues of common concern.
