The Lower Brule Sioux Tribe Head Start
The Lower Brule Head Start takes pride in serving students between three and five years old. The Head Start students learning foundation is formed at our program and transferred to the kindergarten classrooms. Students are not our program's only focus as we strive to influence and help Head Start families reach desired goals such as receiving their GED, continuing their education, finding jobs.
The Lower Brule Head Start is allocated a total of 60 students each year. We have four classrooms and eight teaching staff, two nutrition staff, a business officer, family partnership manager, HERSA manager, custodian, transportation director, and an education manager. We offer various services to families and students, such as mental health services, parenting classes, and birth to three screenings.
The Office of Head Start funds the Lower Brule Head Start. The governing body of the Head Start is the elected Parent Policy Council and the Tribal Council members.
