Neil "Cody" Russell is the 23rd Vice-Chairman of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe. He was sworn in on October 3rd, 2018. For the 2024-2026 term Vice-Chairman Russell will serve as Chaplain.  

 

Cody comes from over 30 years in the education field. He started out as a home-school liaison and moved up to principal then finished his career as a superintendent. He spent his career serving both the Lower Brule and Crow Creek Tribal Schools.

Cody ran for tribal council because he wanted to continue working directly with the people. His favorite thing about serving the people is being able to bring programs and resources to them during their time of need. Vice-Chairman Russell has always maintained an open-door policy. ​
